SUMMARY:"Among Neighbors" screening at Jengo's Playhouse
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Tuesday\, January 27 with a special screening of Among Neighbors\, co-presented by Cucalorus and the Jewish Film Festival. The event features a brief introduction by award-winning filmmaker Yoav Potash\, followed by an in-depth post-film Q&A compilation filmed at sold-out screenings in New York\, Los Angeles\, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Blending evocative hand-drawn animation\, verité footage\, and revelatory interviews\, Among Neighbors examines a small rural Polish town where Jews and Catholic neighbors lived side by side for centuries before World War II shattered that coexistence. Through the last living eyewitnesses—including a Holocaust survivor and an aging witness to violence committed not by Nazis\, but by her own neighbors—the film reveals a powerful story of love\, betrayal\, and moral reckoning. Tickets are $10 and available at jengos.eventive.org.

SUMMARY:"Earth's Greatest Enemy" screening at Jengo's Playhouse
DESCRIPTION:Earth’s Greatest Enemy reveals a hidden truth rarely questioned in mainstream reporting: the role of the U.S. military as the world’s largest institutional polluter\, tracing the link between war\, empire\, and ecological destruction. Drawing on powerful testimonies from veterans\, scientists\, and frontline communities\, it uncovers how military operations poison ecosystems\, accelerate global warming\, and sacrifice the future for endless expansion. From Alaska’s melting glaciers to contaminated bases across the U.S. and toxic battlefields abroad\, Earth’s Greatest Enemy delivers a provocative and unflinching examination of the untouchable institution playing an outsized role in the climate crisis. \nJoin us for the Film and Falafel Event! \n12:30 PM: Social Hour with homemade Palestinian dishes including Falafel! \n2:00 PM: Movie starts \nThere will be a post-screening discussion with the director\, Abby Martin\, DSA and the Cultural Committee of Palestine Coalition.
