Help us celebrate the life and legacy of late master storyteller and musician “Madafo” Lloyd Wilson on what would have been his 77th birthday, Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 11-2, at the Dreams Center for Arts Education, 901 Fanning St.
In keeping with his life’s work, the family-friendly day includes an Arts Competition for youth ages 8-17. Using the theme “March to the Beat of Your Own Drum”, we invite New Hanover County youth to submit literary, visual and performing arts entries to showcase on April 13.
Guidelines
The deadline to enter is March 29, 2024.
Literary – Do you write poetry or short stories? Please submit a Word or PDF for consideration.
Performance – Do you sing, dance, act, or perform spoken word? Send us a video of three minutes or less for consideration.
Visual – Do you draw, paint, or sculpt? Send up to three images of your best work for consideration.
Cash prizes of $100 will be awarded in each category for both ages 8-11 and 12-17.
The completed entry form and work samples must be forwarded to submissions@artswilmington.org by March 29, 2024. Selected artists will be notified by April 5, 2024.
If selected as a finalist, you must be prepared to perform or otherwise showcase your art on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 11-2 at the Dreams Center for Arts Education, 901 Fanning St., Wilmington.
